i went to the coliseum game vs. the red sox coupla years back.  the coliseum was the dodgers first LA home while waiting for the city to eject the residents of chavez ravine.  another story for another time. raffy scored the first run of that game. he slid at the plate. didnt have to slide, not by a longshot - but it was the frickin coliseum, and he was gonna goddang slide any ways !
